Virginia Polo Alums Honored at the 2024 PTF Awards

Sunday February 18th Virginia Polo alumni Dan Colhoun '58 and Parker Pearce '23 were recognized at the PTF Awards at the Museum of Polo & Hall of Fame in Wellington, Florida.

We are so proud of these alumni! Congratulations!

Dan Colhoun

Dan Colhoun ‘58 was honored as the inaugural recipient and namesake for the Polo Training Foundation's (PTF) newly created Daniel Colhoun Lifetime Achievement Award. As former chairman of the PTF board and lifelong supporter of youth polo Dan has had an undeniable impact on the organization.

Virginia Polo alum and Executive Director of the PTF Jen (Poor) McLeavey explains the significance of the award:

“Established in 2023, the Daniel Colhoun, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who, through dedication and service, has made a lifetime contribution to the programs and activities of the Polo Training Foundation.

It was truly an honor and a privilege to celebrate Dan and his lifetime commitment to the Polo Training Foundation and the sport of polo. This award reflects his dedication to the sport, Virginia Polo, and the PTF, that hasn’t wavered in over 50 years.”

Parker Pearce '23 received the Stephen A. Orthwein Intercollegiate Player of the Year Award for the 2022/2023 season. Parker was both co-President of the Virginia Polo Club and Captain of the men's team while at UVA in 2023. Parker is known for his meticulous care for the VA Polo ponies, delicious asados, and being a strong leader of his team. He is now utilizing his leadership skills as Club Manager for Maryland Polo Club and producing asado grills with his own company FYRE Cookware.

Both honorees were accompanied by family and friends and a great big group of Virginia Polo alumni! Alums from 1958-2023 and many years in between came to the awards and enjoyed the fellowship of sharing polo memories with each other.

We were delighted to have a large Virginia Polo alumni group to support Dan & Parker at the awards ceremony!
